How to get Involved in Supporting your Female Community.
Sometimes it can feel tricky to know how to truly support women within your own community. However, it’s a powerful way to create positive change on a local and sometimes national level and address the social issues we could all face. By volunteering, contributing to organisations that promote women’s empowerment, we can work towards achieving a better world. Here at Galene, engaging in these activities is essential work, so we want to explain the ways in which you can get involved in volunteer work that aligns with the social goals of female rights issues, such as quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, and reduced inequalities.
Get that Education.
By supporting Education Initiatives, you are supporting a key tool that play crucial roles in empowering women and creating a more equitable society. By supporting organisations that focus on providing quality education to women and girls, you can contribute to reducing child marriages, child mortality rates, and maternal deaths. Consider signing up for programs such as HeforShe, Generation Equality, UniTE to End Violence against Women, and Empower Women to support educational initiatives and advocate for gender equality.
Attend those Conferences and Local Campaigns
Charities like Plan International and Young Women's Trust organise conferences and campaigns that focus on advancing children's rights, gender equality, and empowering young women pursue careers in various work sectors. Attend these events to stay informed, contribute to discussions, and support their causes. Additionally, explore their specific campaigns such as Plan International's Because I Am A Girl Campaign or Young Women's Trust's campaigns to close the gender pay gap and support young women in male-dominated sectors.
Support Organisations Addressing Sexual Violence
My Body Back, FPA (formerly Family Planning Association), and Rights of Women are organistions dedicated to supporting women who have experienced sexual violence and providing them with essential healthcare, legal advice, and support. You can contribute by volunteering, donating, or raising awareness about their services. My Body Back operates clinics and workshops, FPA fights for reproductive rights and sexual health, and Rights of Women provides legal advice and advocates for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
Women supporting women is essential to amplifying awareness of female social issues and creating lasting change. By getting involved in volunteer work, attending conferences, supporting campaigns, and contributing to organisations that promote women's empowerment, you really can make a meaningful impact. It’s good to choose causes aligned with the UN SDGs, such as quality education, gender equality, decent work, and reduced inequalities to make sure the work is working towards a healthier international society. Together, we can build a more equitable and inclusive society for all women.
